Newsletter 8: Better Together
Why the women beside you matter more than the willpower inside you
One small Pilates cue + one habit shift for your week.
Hi friend,
What If Movement Became Community?
What if taking a class once a week could do more than move your body? What if it could change your outlook, help you reconnect with yourself, and give you a place to build toward your goals—alongside a community of people who are doing the same?
Sometimes, simply showing up is the first step toward feeling stronger, more grounded, and more connected.
Pilates tip of the week
This Week’s Practice: Stand Tall
Find a wall and stand with your back gently against it. Let the wall help you feel where your shoulders and hips are aligned. Feel your body supported, lifted, and strong.
Take a few slow breaths. Notice how it feels to simply stand tall and be present in your body.
Sometimes, a few intentional breaths are all it takes to reset.
And if it’s been a while, consider joining us for our call this week. Come move, breathe, and connect. You never know how showing up for yourself—and alongside others—might change your day.
Habit tip of the week
Dopamine Series: Social Dopamine
Recall how we’ve been focusing on using dopamine to build the wanting part of habits - Dopamine isn't just about pleasure; it's the molecule of pursuit — it rewards you for seeking, repeating, and finishing a behavior.
When you move your body alongside other people, something chemical happens. Seeing others show up triggers social dopamine — the same anticipatory reward your brain releases when you know something good is coming. That little hit of dopamine fires before the workout even starts, which is why pulling up to a class with friends feels easier than rolling out your mat alone.
And when a group is doing it with you, your brain codes the whole ritual as safe, social, and worth repeating. Each shared session strengthens the loop: cue (Monday at 6), routine (we move together), reward (connection + dopamine). Repeat it a few weeks and your brain stops negotiating — it just expects you to show up. That's how a group turns exercise from a should into a habit you actually crave. Show up once, and the community does half the work of keeping you
See you on the mat,
Amie & Amy
