Newsletter 2: Connection
This is where change actually begins
One small Pilates cue + one habit shift for your week.
Hi friend,
We are so glad you’re here! This week is about connection. What are we connecting to and how can we strengthen our body and mind with connection?
Pilates tip of the week: Find Your Foot Connection
Last week, we talked about the importance of connecting to all three points of the foot—the heel, the base of the big toe, and the base of the little toe. This week, let’s take that awareness off the floor and into a simple position where you can really feel it.
Lie on your back with your feet against a wall and your knees comfortably bent. Let your back relax into the floor. Instead of gripping with your toes, gently spread them and notice the three points of your feet connecting to the wall.
Can you feel the balls of your feet, especially the base of the big toe and little toe, pressing evenly into the wall?
Take a few slow breaths and imagine that connection traveling up through your legs and into your center. Notice what changes when your feet are grounded—your legs may feel more supported, your pelvis more stable, and your whole body a little more connected.
Your feet are your foundation. When you find the connection at the bottom, everything above has the opportunity to move with more support and ease.
Take a minute today to pause, breathe, spread your toes, and reconnect to your foundation.
Habit tip of the week: Connect with your Anchor.
We're very good at shaming ourselves for things we’re not doing, but let’s try connecting to what we are doing and why it matters to us.
Connection to self is a skill, and it's the one that makes habits sustainable — because it tells you when a routine or behavior is creating a you that feels like you. If you can connect a behavior or routine to your anchor (the you that moves towards joy and purpose), it starts to feed itself with dopamine.
A one-minute practice: at the end of the day, answer three lines — What felt like me today? What didn't? What do I want more of tomorrow? No scoring, no streaks. Just connection with yourself and what already feels good. Move towards your anchor with curiosity, instead of staying still with guilt and fear.
Habits built on self-awareness bend instead of breaking. That's what makes them last.
See you on the mat,
